Saving Buddy

I had recently found out from a patient at work that there was a dog being abused and neglected. As soon as I found out about Buddy I had to do something about it. I could never know about a dog suffering and not take action. He is 7 years old and has spent his whole life chained to a fence with no proper food, water or shelter. He has never been to the vet, walked or around other animals.
I picked Buddy up Friday night and he was in bad shape. He was covered in flees, severely under weight, and a has large abscess on his anal glad.
We gave him a good couple of flees baths and cleaned him up. Saturday he went to the vet and got his basic shots and ran some tests. He has heart worms and the abscess on his anal glad could possibly be malignant and kill him. He doesnt have an Parasites and his organ function is good for a dog his age. The surgery is going to cost $1000 to get the abscess removed.

We have been in contact the the Doberman rescue group to see if they know anyone to help with Buddys medical conditions. If a vet isnt willing to help we are thinking of doing a fundraiser to raise money to help this sweet neglected boy. We will get an update tomorrow from the rescue group and will keep everyone updated on his progress. Please keep Buddy in your prayers, he is the sweetest, most adorable dog anyone would be lucky to have. xo

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is a time of year where we think about all the things we are thankful for in our lives, and what truly make us happy.
Sometimes its only human to focus on the negative things going on in our lives but do we ever think to just be thankful? Just say thank you to someone with a smile everyday? I have made it my goal to start consciously trying to appreciate the things and people more often in my life, because lets face it life short.
This year my goal was to become closer to my Texas Family.
Louis and I had been trying for awhile to move back to Texas because this where I was born and I felt I had missed out on growing up and being around my Family here. I know it is hard to reconnect with people after being distance for so long but it takes time, effort and love. Family and true friends are the most important things in life and you should take every chance to appreciate and love one another.
We are also missing our Canadian friends and family terribly and hope that we can spend time with you in the near future. We feel so lucky that we have so many amazing people in our life and wish we could spend more time together but life is always changing and we are on a new path of adventures here in Texas.
I have learned a lot this year and if you truly have a "positive" mind set you will get through  any "negatives" that come your way.
I have so many things in my life to be thankful for:  My amazing Texas family , my Canadians friends and family , my Ohio family, my wonderful boyfriend, the amazing people who I work with and have met so far here in Austin, and my puppies who make me smile and love me unconditionally everyday.
I appreciate and love you all
I am giving thanks to you and wishing you a happy, fun filled Thanksgiving.

DIY Living room

I found this neat project I wanted to do for my huge living room wall. I had many different ideas but settled on this easy, affordable DIY project.
I started out by buying 4 canvases from JOANNES, then bought black and white spray paint.
For the template design I bought a "welcome mat" from Target.

Step 1: Spray Paint canvases black and let dry.
Step 2: Touch up and "spots" on canvases with second coat of paint

Step 3: Lay mat down as template and spray canvases with white paint on top.

Step 4: Let canvas dry and spray second coat as needed.

Step 5: Once dried hang each canvas 1 inch apart and create a collage!
** I would recommend doing "layers" of spray paint instead of alot at one time because it will drip and cause drip marks! Also if you have spare paint brushes you and touch any areas up after spraying.

I found this old frame that I wasnt using and decided to make it useful. It was a super easy project, all I did was string some wire and drilled some nails to secure the wire.
